About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure US tax compliance for the management of private equity funds, with appropriate consideration of risk, operational, and tax issues
- Ongoing analysis of US tax legislation and identification of impacts on investments for portfolio management and investors
- Analyze distribution provisions in fund agreements and allocation of distributions to investors
- Assess international tax rules for PFICs and CFCs and handle tax reporting related to Forms 926, 8865, 8621, 5471, etc.
- Analyze debt and equity, unrelated business taxable income (UBTI) for tax-exempt clients, and other tax analyses required for private equity funds
- Review clients' investments for US tax implications
- Provide investment-related advice to clients on the choice of US tax structures
- Act as single point of contact (SPOC) for all types of queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Monitor newsletters and guidance from US tax authorities (IRS)
- Work with IT to implement regulatory changes in tools, processes, and systems
- Conduct training to explain US tax concepts relevant to investment practice
- Collaborate on global tax projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master’s degree in Law, Accounting, or Taxation
- Qualified tax professional or actively pursuing tax qualification
- Professional experience in asset management with US tax or international tax focus, ideally with private equity funds
- Knowledge of international tax returns and applicable US tax laws
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Extensive experience calculating taxable income and allocating resources for private equity funds
- Ability to coordinate tax-related projects
- Experience preparing and reviewing tax returns and Schedule K-1
- Strong time and project management skills
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment and transfer knowledge and experience to the team
- Team player with a collaborative mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- IT affinity
- Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel
