About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provides direct and indirect patient care duties under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse or Paramedic
  • Responsible for patient support, environmental and supply management functions, as part of the patient care team
  • Adheres to Emergency specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines, and protocols
  • Reports to the Nurse Manager with daily shift supervision by the Charge Nurse
  • Responds to requests for patient care assistance as delegated by the Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Maintains skill level to perform patient care tasks, to include, intravenous catheter insertion and medication administration, as delegated by the RN
  • Maintains skill level to administer medications as delegated by the RN
  • Collects and processes laboratory specimens
  • Maintains department supplies and equipment
  • Assists with clerical duties
  • Performs job specific requirements and other duties as assigned
  • Serves as a preceptor for new employees

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school or equivalent (GED)
  • National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or National Registry Emergency Medical Technician-Advanced (EMT-A) or Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA)
  • Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
  • One year of prior experience as an EMT or LNA
  • Evidence of experience working effectively and positively with patients, care providers, and the multi-disciplinary team
  • Evidence of the ability to perform as a member of a team.
