About the role
- Provide senior technical leadership for Air Force IT systems development and operations
- Serve as primary interface with the customer/Program Management Office and provide thought leadership in modernizing Air Force systems
- Manage capability delivery teams including development Scrums, Cloud Engineering, and DevSecOps Platform
- Lead operations of Air Force systems implementation, maintain interfaces with trading partners, develop and modernize capabilities, resolve Tier 2/3 Help Desk tickets
- Optimize DevSecOps practices and tools to automate the CI/CD pipeline, configuration management, testing, and code migration across environments
- Manage priorities between operating production on-premises, refactoring baselines for Cloud platform, and supporting Cloud Migration activities to transform to Cloud native capability
- Manage and reduce technical debt while delivering interoperable capabilities that do not introduce security or audit risk
- Provide secure, scalable, and maintainable tools and environments
- Improve data quality, integrity, and security when exchanging data with trading partners and migrating legacy data
- Address cross-team dependencies in a multi-vendor environment to avoid negative impact on objectives
- Lead technical architectural design reviews and ensure solution integrity
- Develop and oversee strategies for scalable and secure interface development and management
- Drive technical innovation, evaluate emerging technologies, and champion adoption of modern solutions
Requirements
- 10 years of experience leading enterprise-level IT programs for the DoD (Air Force preferred)
- Knowledge and understanding of Air Force IT processes and technology stack (DevSecOps CI/CD, Cloud One, Oracle, Java)
- Demonstrable experience leading technical teams and architecting solutions within an Agile and/or SAFe environment
- Experience leading or architecting the migration of large, complex systems to a DoD-approved cloud environment (e.g., AWS, Oracle Cloud)
- Experience architecting and managing complex system integrations, including many external interfaces and data exchange in a multi-vendor environment
- Familiarity with DoD/Air Force cybersecurity mandates (RMF, STIGs)
- US Citizen with ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (master’s degree preferred)
- Preferred: experience managing 20+ FTEs
- Preferred: familiarity with DoD/Air Force software acquisition pathways (SWP)
- Preferred: professional certifications (e.g., SAFe certifications, Cloud Architecture certifications, PMP, Oracle Air Force systems certifications)
