About the role
- Product owner responsible for design, production support, and assembly of structural components and insulation in HTS magnet systems
- Work closely with Production, Assembly, and Procurement teams to ensure components meet requirements and are delivered on-time
- Develop design and analysis documentation, technical specifications, and assembly procedures
- Perform structural and thermal calculations (hand calculations to FEA)
- Drive production drawing releases and revisions to meet manufacturing and assembly schedules
- Collaborate with Quality, Manufacturing, Assembly, Commissioning, and Procurement teams on requirements and documentation
- Rapidly design, test, and qualify prototypes
- Prepare reports and presentations
- Exhibit self-motivation, excellent problem-solving skills, and preference for simplicity over complexity
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, or another relevant field
- 8+ years of experience designing structural components in a fast-pace environment
- Experience with CAD software (NX preferred) and analysis software (ANSYS Workbench preferred)
- Ability to perform structural and thermal calculations, ranging from first-principle hand calculations to FEA
- Experience developing design and analysis documentation, technical specifications, and assembly procedures
- Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards (heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, cryogenics)
- Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
- Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
- Compliance with U.S. Export Control Laws as required for the role
