About the role

  • Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.
  • Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to support enterprise analytics and the machine learning lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across operations, supply chain, finance, and engineering to translate business challenges into data requirements and AI-driven solutions.
  • Prepare and transform complex datasets into model-ready formats for machine learning and Generative AI applications.
  • Own the data lifecycle for projects, ensuring data quality, governance, and reliability from ingestion to consumption.
  • Propose new technologies and methodologies to improve data infrastructure.
  • Prototype and develop solutions using Generative AI and LLMs to automate workflows and extract insights from unstructured enterprise data.
  • Architect data infrastructure for advanced AI applications, including RAG pipelines and vector databases.
  • Research and experiment with emerging AI technologies and platforms to recommend competitive solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical field
  • 2+ years of professional experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT development, and data modeling
  • Expert-level proficiency in SQL, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, and performing query optimization
  • Strong experience with a modern data warehouse platform such as Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or Google BigQuery
  • Demonstrated expertise in ETL/ELT tools and frameworks, such as Apache Airflow, dbt, Informatica, Talend
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting or programming language, such as Python, with an understanding of libraries like Pandas or NumPy
  • Project management skills
  • Great numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Attention to detail and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Agile mindset to provide solutions quickly with incremental value to customers
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs
  • Willingness to occasionally travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
