About the role

  • Participate in day-to-day DBA operations performing tasks such as working on change tickets that involve executing SQL scripts in Production, resolving incident tickets related to database availability, backups, free disk space, long-running queries, etc.
  • Participated in on-call rotation, attending to database related alerts and notifications in a timely manner and taking appropriate action to resolve the underlying issue(s)
  • In addition to performing the daily DBA tasks, contribute towards the success of the on-going projects related to automation, infrastructure-as-a-code, technology updates, containerization, etc.
  • Assist development and QA teams with deployment activities by performing DBA tasks assigned in the runbook
  • Actively support operational teams and other stakeholder teams to provide business systems availability and maintain customer satisfaction
  • Support the production and lower environments infrastructure 24/7 as part of the production support team
  • Participate in on-call rotation as infrastructure support primary to support production.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS or related technical field required
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience managing SQL Server 2016 or newer, Amazon RDS and Oracle 19c or later versions of databases in AWS production environments
  • Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring employer sponsorship currently or in the future
  • Proven experience in managing SQL Server 2016 or higher, Amazon RDS and Oracle 19c as a DBA, preferably including Production environment
  • Clear understanding of backup and recovery procedures for Oracle 19c using RMAN and SQL Server native backups
  • Understanding of basic database concepts, such as indexes and statistics, concurrency and blocking, transactions, data caching
  • Experience with database performance and tuning is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of SQL Server tools such as SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Configuration Manager
  • Experience with HA/DR strategies for SQL Server, including Always-On Availability Group
  • Experience with Oracle Grid Infrastructure (including ASM) and Oracle Data Guard is highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems and experience in supporting database servers on both
  • A working knowledge of AWS Cloud Infrastructure, including but not limited to Regions and AZs, EC2, EBS, NACL & Security Groups, CloudWatch, Event Bridge, etc.
  • Experience in scripting/deployment languages such as PowerShell, Python preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate well across functional teams
  • Ability to troubleshoot system issues, problems, identifying root causes and fixing them
  • Fair knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking concepts and terminologies
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD methodologies
  • Professional Certifications in AWS, Azure and Database technologies is a plus
  • Must be willing to provide on call support on a rotation basis for 24x7 support.
