About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the key banking relationship manager for assigned middle market client relationships
  • Prospect for new business and partner with Client Solution Managers to deepen client relationships
  • Act as a trusted advisor to Executive-level client contacts by assessing holistic banking needs and providing customized insights and solutions
  • Drive profitable revenue growth and quality credit
  • Serve as the Middle Market client expert and go-to person for complex clients
  • Lead business development by understanding clients’ and prospects’ businesses and industries
  • Perform client reviews to ensure relevant solutions as clients grow and adapt
  • Develop and maximize established referral networks
  • Identify opportunities and partner to structure, coordinate, and sponsor credit and non-credit solutions
  • Assemble and lead cross-functional teams responding to customer requests and needs
  • Present the full breadth of the bank through a team of experts
  • Maintain active prospecting, including identification, qualification, and calling
  • Balance prospecting with quality client maintenance
  • Make loan and term decisions within established lending limits
  • Analyze credit and borrowing eligibility
  • Follow up on current loans to ensure compliance with procedures and required terms
  • Study middle market industrial, economic, and financial conditions for business development and portfolio management
  • Demonstrate compliance with bank regulations and stay current on regulatory changes
  • Follow bank policies, procedures, compliance regulations, and complete required training
  • Maintain working knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Regulation CC, Regulation E, Bank Security, and other applicable regulations
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert when requested
  • Foster Columbia corporate culture and model personal initiative
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • More than 10 years of relevant Middle Market lending experience and proven track record of exceeding performance in developing business in the Middle Market segment and industry (Required)
  • 4-7 years of high performance experience serving commercial clients with $25MM+ annual revenue (Preferred)
  • Proven track record of success in developing new business, growing market share and establishing/growing a quality supportive network
  • Experience working in relationship management teams with a proven understanding of balancing business development and asset quality
  • Proven ability to constructively work within or lead a team to deliver holistic, customized banking relationships
  • Expert credit acumen, including accounting, financial statements, business understanding, and operational cash flow
  • Working knowledge of the bank’s systems and policies applicable to underwriting and portfolio management
  • Thorough knowledge of the bank’s risk-rating system, credit products, and underwriting policies
  • Exceptional working knowledge structuring credit products for middle market businesses in diverse industries with complex ownership structures
  • Excellent relationship management, business development, analytical, problem-solving, sales, credit, and credit quality skills
  • Superior client relationship and internal partnering skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office, with ability to learn new business software
  • Ability to train and present to small and large audiences
  • Superior technical credit expertise and ability to mentor others
  • Ability to negotiate/collaborate with Senior Credit Officers on credit terms and structures
  • Experience with syndications, asset-based lending, capital structure finance, leveraged lending, enterprise value lending, and trade finance
  • Experience with underwriting and/or managing Shared National Credits (SNC)
  • Frequent travel required
  • Ability to work fully onsite at posted location(s)
