About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Originate self-generated residential mortgage loans through outside sales and referral relationships
  • Develop and execute business development and marketing plans against monthly and quarterly production standards
  • Interview prospective borrowers and analyze financial and credit data
  • Advise customers on mortgage products, pricing policies, and guidelines
  • Gather required information and documentation for accurate disclosures, processing, underwriting, closing, funding, and post-closing
  • Maintain overall responsibility for loan files through transaction completion
  • Provide exceptional customer service while complying with lending regulations and professional ethics
  • Promote the company and its financial products to customers and associates
  • Complete required annual, compliance, BVS, system, and job-specific training
  • Keep current on regulatory changes and follow Bank policies and procedures
  • Coach, mentor, or train others and teach coursework as a subject matter expert when requested
  • Foster Columbia Bank’s corporate culture and perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. Diploma/GED, vocational training, or equivalent (preferred)
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, finance, or equivalent (preferred)
  • 2 years of previous mortgage self-generated origination/sales and structuring experience (required)
  • Knowledge of the home lending industry, including loan processing, underwriting, closing, and funding
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience collecting and analyzing borrower income
  • Negotiating skills
  • Ability to develop sustainable referral sources and generate leads
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Detail-oriented and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups across the company and manage internal and external customer relationships
  • Proficiency with personal computers and software such as Word and Excel
  • Must be registered as an MLO under S.A.F.E. Act requirements
  • Must comply with Bank MLO and Bank Closed-End MLO requirements under applicable mortgage regulations
  • Ability to work fully onsite at posted location(s)
  • Occasional travel required
