About the role
- As a Business Analyst within our Digital Delivery function, you will work to bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions by gathering, analysing, and defining requirements that enhance the Inspire, Shop, and Checkout customer journeys.
- You will ensure alignment between business objectives, customer experience, and technical feasibility to drive data-driven decision-making, optimize digital experiences, and deliver seamless, scalable solutions that support Coles’ strategic goals.
- Conduct Agile practices including requirements gathering, user story writing and management of the backlog.
- Write requirements which are of high quality, thus able to be independent, negotiable, valuable, estimate able, sized appropriately, and testable (INVEST principle).
- Work with UX, PO, Developers and Testers to refine the acceptance criteria in user stories.
- Conduct discovery workshops with internal and external stakeholders to elicit requirements for user stories as needed.
- Creation of documentation including workflows and as-is and to-be process models.
- Seek feedback from the team during ceremonies such as retro and grooming and continually improve your craft.
- Understand what it is to write accessibility requirements that ensure a product is inclusive and accessible.
- Analyse business processes: identifies alternative solutions, assesses feasibility, and recommends new approaches.
- Contributes to evaluating the factors which must be addressed in the change programme.
- Helps establish requirements for the implementation of changes in the business process.
Requirements
- Experience working in digital retail, online shopping, or eCommerce platforms.
- Understanding of online customer journeys.
- Experience in optimizing digital user experiences through data-driven decisions.
- Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum/Kanban/SAFe).
- Supporting product backlog refinement, writing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test cases.
- Strong business analyst skills to capture business requirements, ‘as is’ and ‘to be’ states, user stories, functional specifications and training guides.
- Understanding of digital ecosystem, software development lifecycle, development methodologies (including Agile), enterprise architecture principles, accessibility, online content, and user experience (UX) design.
- Experience in balancing business objectives with technical feasibility to maximize ROI.
- Highly collaborative style, able to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders and drive outcomes and solutions.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Effectively balances commercial and customer needs.
- Knowledge of trends in digital retail, customer expectations, and competitive landscape.
- Familiarity with emerging technologies in eCommerce, such as AI-driven personalisation, checkout optimization.
- Curious and committed to continual learning.
