About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Contribute to a product-focused squad by developing core features and components
Own features from design and implementation through deployment and monitoring
Design, develop, test, and optimize backend services in Scala
Contribute to TypeScript and Go tools when needed
Review code and provide constructive feedback
Participate in technical design discussions and architecture decisions
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production and non-production issues
Improve deployment pipelines, observability, and production reliability

Requirements

What you’ll need

Experience with Scala or JVM-based languages such as Java or Kotlin
Strong desire to learn Scala
Understanding of functional programming principles
Knowledge of API design, microservices, distributed systems, and cloud-based services
Knowledge of SQL and other data storage systems
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, and Docker
Proficiency with Git and Git workflows
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to work effectively in a remote environment
Good communication skills and fluency in English
Must be living in Portugal and eligible to work from there
