About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Build and own product features across the stack using Python, Django, React, and Next.js
  • Design and implement systems behind clinical and operational workflows, including scheduling, messaging, and practice operations
  • Build APIs, application logic, and integrations with clinical and third-party systems
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and clinical stakeholders to turn complex workflows into intuitive software
  • Debug and resolve production issues across the frontend, backend, and infrastructure
  • Design systems that remain reliable, maintainable, and predictable as the product scales
  • Contribute to system design, technical planning, architecture discussions, and code reviews
  • Incorporate AI coding tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) into your daily development workflow

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Strong ability to design and own backend services and APIs — including data modeling, service architecture, scalability, and reliability
  • Frontend development experience building usable, intuitive UI/UX for real users
  • Experience with asynchronous processing and workflow design for reliable, real-world operational tasks
  • Experience building integrations and interfaces between internal and external systems to support end-to-end workflows
  • Deep commitment to reliability, correctness, and writing maintainable, testable code
  • Based in New York City and available for a hybrid work schedule (3 days/week in office)
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Familiarity with FHIR, Medplum, or clinical data standards (Nice to have)
  • Experience at a healthtech, care delivery, or clinical operations company (Nice to have)
  • Comfort operating in an early-stage, fast-moving environment with a small engineering team (Nice to have)
