About the role

  • Solve challenging, complex problems to deliver analytics/data products to enterprise customers (e.g., Uber, Delivery Hero, Hello Fresh, Universal Music Group, Glovo).
  • Redesign and rebuild codebase for growth.
  • Translate state-of-the-art software development into product experiences; build responsive interactive data workspaces.
  • Build, maintain, and evolve systems for power-user UIs, ETL automation, databases, and infrastructure.
  • Adopt and invent engineering solutions to scale current customers and diversify into new verticals.
  • Work closely with Customer Success and Solutions Engineering to address customer problems.
  • Explore and test new technologies inspired by companies such as Snowflake, Notion, Grafana, Looker, Tableau, Fivetran.

Requirements

  • Excellent programming skills; expected to code with enthusiasm.
  • Deep appreciation for software engineering founded in first principles; strong understanding of tools and languages and ability to communicate knowledge.
  • Hacker mentality: iterate solutions with originality and speed.
  • Self-management: manage own time, tools, and projects with self-awareness and transparency.
  • Collaborative, constructive, and optimistic approach to teamwork.
  • Willingness to learn; open to being taught domain knowledge such as marketing.
  • Strong opinions held lightly; able to change mind.
  • Preferred experience: 3 to 5 years of software engineering.
  • Familiarity with technologies: Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Clickhouse, Spark, Scala, Elixir, Kubernetes, Graphite, Redis, Python.
