About the role
- Part-time legal research and analysis to support training and refining claims AI models
- Conduct in-depth legal research related to insurance claims, civil litigation, tort law, and related practice areas
- Analyze court decisions, statutes, regulations, and legal commentary to identify patterns and precedents
- Summarize case law, insurance policies, and legal standards to support AI model training and validation
- Assist in annotating legal documents, claims data, and case outcomes for machine learning datasets
- Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, legal analysts, and product teams to improve model accuracy and legal soundness
- Maintain documentation of research methodologies and results
Requirements
- Current law student (2L or 3L) or recent graduate from an accredited law school
- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Access to Westlaw or LexisNexis through your institution
- Interest in legal technology, AI, and the intersection of law and data science
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Available to work 10 - 20 hours per week
- Preferred: Prior exposure to insurance law, claims litigation, or legal analytics
- Preferred: Familiarity with data privacy and ethical considerations in legal tech
- Preferred: Knowledge of civil procedure and claims handling processes
