• Prepare 1040 forms for individual income tax returns and files tax returns electronically or by mail
• Maintain accurate records of tax returns and related documents
• Ensure tax return compliance with tax laws and regulations, including federal, state, and local tax laws
• Calculate tax liabilities and refunds based on the information provided
• Identify and apply any available tax deductions, credits, or exemptions that may be applicable to the taxpayer's situation
• Perform detailed reviews on tax returns, research, and compliance work with an emphasis on calculations, accounting theory, and tax law compliance
• Collect and organize tax-related documents, such as income statements, expense receipts, and investment records, and enter data from these documents into tax preparation software
• Communicate directly with clients to answer questions and provide guidance on tax-related matters
