About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud data platform compute, clusters, and workloads; ensure platform scalability, performance, and security.
- Develop and enforce platform administration policies and procedures; align capabilities with business goals in partnership with leadership.
- Provide escalated support and troubleshooting; oversee data governance, access control, and catalog services, including external access controls such as service principals, SQL warehouses, Delta Sharing, and equivalent platform capabilities.
- Drive continuous improvement of infrastructure, user management, and external access processes, review documentation quality.
- Oversee creation of monitoring queries/dashboards; enforce tagging and naming standards; review cluster health and best‑practice compliance.
- Ensure regular backups/recovery and recurring privilege reviews; stay current on Databricks/cloud trends.
- Provide day‑to‑day leadership providing coaching, development, and performance management.
- Define and enforce platform DevOps standards, including CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, environment promotion, and automated compliance controls across the platform ecosystem.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6 years of relevant experience required
- Supervisory experience a plus
- Bachelor's degree is required
- Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree
- Degree in computer science preferred
- Deep understanding of enterprise data, analytics, and compute platforms, including cloud data services, analytics tools, and Kubernetes environments.
- Ability to define and enforce platform standards for security, governance, automation, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
- Experience leading DevOps and platform engineering practices, including infrastructure-as-code and environment lifecycle management.
- Strong knowledge of cloud cost management, scalability, and reliability engineering.
- Ability to evaluate and guide adoption of emerging platform technologies.
