About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Oversee design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud data platform compute, clusters, and workloads; ensure platform scalability, performance, and security.
Develop and enforce platform administration policies and procedures; align capabilities with business goals in partnership with leadership.
Provide escalated support and troubleshooting; oversee data governance, access control, and catalog services, including external access controls such as service principals, SQL warehouses, Delta Sharing, and equivalent platform capabilities.
Drive continuous improvement of infrastructure, user management, and external access processes, review documentation quality.
Oversee creation of monitoring queries/dashboards; enforce tagging and naming standards; review cluster health and best‑practice compliance.
Ensure regular backups/recovery and recurring privilege reviews; stay current on Databricks/cloud trends.
Provide day‑to‑day leadership providing coaching, development, and performance management.
Define and enforce platform DevOps standards, including CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, environment promotion, and automated compliance controls across the platform ecosystem.

Requirements

What you’ll need

6 years of relevant experience required
Supervisory experience a plus
Bachelor's degree is required
Combination of relevant experience, education, and training may be accepted in lieu of degree
Degree in computer science preferred
Deep understanding of enterprise data, analytics, and compute platforms, including cloud data services, analytics tools, and Kubernetes environments.
Ability to define and enforce platform standards for security, governance, automation, CI/CD, and operational excellence.
Experience leading DevOps and platform engineering practices, including infrastructure-as-code and environment lifecycle management.
Strong knowledge of cloud cost management, scalability, and reliability engineering.
Ability to evaluate and guide adoption of emerging platform technologies.
