About the role

  • Completing journal entries and analysis of assigned funds.
  • Assisting with the completion of the City's annual external audit.
  • Supporting the creation of the annual comprehensive financial report.
  • Providing other financial reporting.
  • Completing regular accounting functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience with complicated practices and precedents and an in-depth knowledge of governmental accounting practices.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of governmental accounting practices to create detailed records and to complete the annual audit and monthly reconciliations of assigned funds.
  • Knowledge of grants, federal regulations, reporting, and compliance.
  • Knowledge and application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job,
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Five (5) years of governmental accounting experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.
  • Report building experience with Power BI, Oracle BI, or another business intelligence program preferred.
