About the role

  • Ensure that water and sewer design standards are met in new development projects
  • Coordination of oversizing and cost sharing agreements
  • Review of development agreements, and infrastructure requirements for specific developments
  • Support the department in modelling potential expansion or rehabilitation of water and sewer systems across the City to support development
  • Clearly convey the water, sewer, non-potable, and raw water needs to both the development applicant and other city staff in Community Development and Public Works
  • Assist the Water & Sewer Department with the implementation of the capital improvement program through some limited project management activities
  • Cost estimating, budgeting, management of projects, and field investigations
  • Ensure construction activities meet City requirements, controlling the timelines, costs, and quality
  • Collaborate with different project team, contractors, and the public

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (four-year degree) in civil engineering, construction management or Building Science, or a related field from an ABET (Accredited Board for Engineering and Technology) college or university
  • General understanding of civil engineering, utilities infrastructure, and water and sewer system rehabilitation
  • One (1) or more years of experience working with GIS, InfoWater, Infoworks ICM, MS Project and Excel
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience working as a Development Review Engineer or in a closely related field
  • Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification, or the ability to obtain Colorado Professional Engineers (PE) license within one year.
  • If licensure is held within any other state, candidate must apply for reciprocity to receive licensure in Colorado within six (6) months of hire.
  • Four (4) plus years of experience working as a Development Review Engineer or in a closely related field
  • Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) Certification or the ability to obtain Colorado Professional Engineers license within one year.
  • If licensure is held within any other state, candidate must apply for reciprocity to receive licensure in Colorado within six (6) months of hire.
  • Master’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university preferred
  • At least two (2) years of experience working as a development Review Engineer or in a closely related field preferred
  • A combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
