About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Maintain refrigeration and HVAC systems for a group of retail locations
  • Repair compressors, water pumps, air handlers, and electrical and mechanical control devices
  • Communicate regularly with Site Management about maintenance activities
  • Communicate planned maintenance activities and diagnose equipment malfunctions and operating deficiencies
  • Provide timely job updates
  • Perform refrigerant leak checking and repairs
  • Maintain assigned assets to high standards
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks
  • Monitor and log refrigerant usage
  • Maintain clean and safe machine and electrical rooms
  • Communicate with retail personnel to maintain refrigerated product integrity
  • Participate in the after-hours on-call emergency call program
  • Troubleshoot problems and complete equipment inventories
  • Perform other job-related duties and follow company policies and procedures

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience with rack systems, display cases, and walk-ins highly preferred
  • Journeyman qualification in refrigeration and HVAC systems, or equivalent work experience
  • EPA certification for refrigerant handling Class I & II, or Universal
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently
  • Ability to understand and follow English instructions
  • Authorization to work in the United States or ability to obtain it
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check
  • In-depth knowledge of supermarket rack refrigeration equipment, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems preferred
  • Basic computer skills and experience with Refrigeration Controller Technology, Microsoft Outlook, and Excel
  • Troubleshooting and guest service skills
  • Ability to multitask, work with limited supervision, and make quick sound decisions
  • Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills
  • High integrity and reliability
