About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Service, maintain, diagnose, and repair commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems in retail and supermarket environments
- Replace defective parts and adjust system controls to improve equipment performance
- Support the Energy/Engineering Team with maintenance capital replacement projects involving building and equipment assets
- Plan, create, track, purchase, invoice, manage assets and contracts, and close out projects
- Build strong customer relationships and understand customer needs and expectations
- Provide service on heating, cooling, refrigeration, humidity, and temperature control systems
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical HVAC/R components
- Perform startups and troubleshooting for commercial HVAC/R systems
- Meet with customers, evaluate needs, and make recommendations
- Notify Project Specialists, maintenance banner leads, and third-party vendors to begin project implementation
- Create and distribute purchase orders and ensure jobs and PO processing proceed on time
- Build project trackers and enter project management information
- Participate in weekly or bi-weekly project status meetings and update trackers
- Manage invoice payment processes
- Initiate project closeout, invoice processing, and change-order submissions
- Assist with commissioning for building, HVAC, refrigeration, and miscellaneous maintenance projects
- Set up and maintain warranty tracking methods
- Update plans for non-standard replacements and communicate vendor/model changes and service information
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum 2 years’ experience servicing commercial and industrial HVAC/R equipment; less experience considered based on schooling/other
- Completion of high school or GED
- EPA Universal Certified
- Valid driver’s license with no suspensions in the last 3–5 years
- Knowledge of HVAC/R equipment and proper service procedures
- Experience with HVAC/R controls such as Novar, Emerson/CPC, and Danfoss preferred
- Experience with parallel rack systems preferred
- Completion of trade/vocational school preferred
- Experience servicing supermarket and commercial equipment preferred, including walk-in coolers/freezers, low- and medium-temperature cases, parallel rack systems, loop systems, direct digital controls, warehouse/storage facilities, ice machines, commercial food service equipment, furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, packaged rooftop units, air handlers, air curtains, and exhaust fans
- Good verbal and written communication
- Solid coordinating, prioritizing, and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced corporate office environment
- Ability to work independently
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to travel 90%
