About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute the migration to Visual Studio 2017
- Adapt and optimize the build toolchain (CMake, MSBuild, Ninja)
- Update CI/CD pipelines and Windows build environments
- Analyze and resolve build, compiler, and linker errors
- Migrate and validate third-party libraries as well as SDK/runtime dependencies
- Execute automated tests and ensure build and release quality
- Create rollout concepts, documentation, and perform knowledge transfer
- Monitor and optimize build stability and performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of hands-on experience with Visual Studio (especially VS2017) and MSVC toolchains (v141)
- Proficient with CMake, MSBuild, and build generators; experience with Ninja is an advantage
- Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins and/or GitLab CI) and configuring Windows build agents
- Solid knowledge of C++ (build error analysis, linkers, ABI/CRT fragility)
- Experience with compiler/toolchain migrations (e.g., VS2015 → VS2017) and handling incompatibilities
- Good skills in Batch/PowerShell and Python for automating installation, provisioning, and tests
- Experience with automated testing and test frameworks (ideally Boost.Test)
- Analytical, independent working style and experience creating rollout/fallback strategies
- Very good spoken and written German is required for effective communication within the project environment and with our German-speaking clients.
