About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Planning and executing the migration to Visual Studio 2017
- Adapting and optimizing the build toolchain (CMake, MSBuild, Ninja)
- Updating CI/CD pipelines and Windows build environments
- Analyzing and resolving build, compiler, and linker errors
- Migrating and validating third-party libraries as well as SDK/runtime dependencies
- Performing automated tests and ensuring build and release quality
- Developing rollout concepts, documentation, and knowledge transfer
- Monitoring and optimizing build stability and performance
Requirements
What you’ll need- Several years of hands-on experience with Visual Studio (especially VS2017) and MSVC toolchains (v141)
- Confident use of CMake, MSBuild, and build generators; experience with Ninja is an advantage
- Experience with CI/CD systems (Jenkins and/or GitLab CI) and configuring Windows build agents
- Solid knowledge of C++ (build-failure analysis, linkers, ABI/CRT fragilities)
- Experience with compiler/toolchain migrations (e.g., VS2015 → VS2017) and handling incompatibilities
- Good knowledge of Batch/PowerShell and Python for automating installation, provisioning, and tests
- Experience with automated testing and test frameworks (ideally Boost.Test)
- Analytical, independent working style and experience creating rollout/fallback strategies
- Very good spoken and written German is required.
