About the role

  • Provide technical leadership to the team on performance, resilience, and platform evolution initiatives.
  • Define and review the architecture of low-latency, high-scale services.
  • Collaborate with other teams on routing strategies, caching, CDNs, and security.
  • Ensure best practices for code quality, testing, observability, and production operation.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in backend application development.
  • Experience designing and architecting distributed, scalable systems.
  • Solid foundation in software engineering (SOLID principles, best practices, design patterns).
  • Deep understanding of computer networks and high-scale systems (latency, throughput, contention, network congestion, etc.).
  • Experience with containers (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience with observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, New Relic, Datadog, etc.).
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL and NoSQL).
  • Experience with agile methodologies.
  • The following are a plus:
  • Experience with Go.
  • Experience with web servers / reverse proxies (e.g., Nginx, Apache).
  • Experience operating or using CDNs, understanding their benefits, limitations, and security requirements (WAF, authentication tokens, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Lua or other embedded scripting languages.
  • Familiarity with debugging and optimization tools for embedded systems.
  • Knowledge of Unix and operating systems (terminal, sysctl, perf, top/htop, user space vs. kernel space concepts, interrupts, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform).
  • Experience mentoring and developing technical team members.
