About the role

  • Database Logic Development: Create and maintain complex scripts, stored procedures, functions, and triggers using SQL and SQL procedural language (SQL PL).
  • Optimization and Tuning: Expertise using Explain tools (db2exfmt, Visual Explain) to perform deep analysis of access paths and join methods, aiming to reduce resource consumption and response time.
  • Performance Maintenance: Execute and automate essential maintenance routines such as RUNSTATS (statistics collection) and REORG (reorganization of tables and indexes) to ensure storage efficiency.
  • Data Modeling and Objects: Design and modify tables, indexes (B-tree, MDC, ITC) and views, as well as manage tablespaces (bufferpools, page sizes), ensuring integrity and performance from the physical layer to the logical model.
  • Troubleshooting and Concurrency: Diagnose production performance issues such as locks, deadlocks and timeouts, analyze isolation levels, and propose structural or code improvements to maximize concurrency.

Requirements

  • Experience with DB2 specifically on LUW (Linux/Unix/Windows).
  • Proficiency with ERwin Data Modeler.
  • Advanced SQL: Strong knowledge of in-database procedural development.
  • Performance Engineering: Technical expertise in index creation and management, table partitioning, and data compression.
  • Familiarity with DB2 utilities for monitoring and diagnosis (db2pd, db2top, db2advis).
  • Understanding of how the database integrates with the data pipeline (ETL/ELT) and how to optimize the flow of large data volumes.
  • Proficiency with bulk data movement utilities (EXPORT, IMPORT, LOAD, and INGEST).
