About the role
- Design and implement enterprise-wide data architecture solutions that support business objectives
- Develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models for transactional and analytical systems
- Create and maintain data architecture blueprints, standards, and documentation
- Define data flow patterns and integration architectures across systems and platforms
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to data engineering and development teams
- Evaluate and recommend data technologies, tools, and platforms
- Lead proof-of-concept initiatives for new data technologies and approaches
- Establish coding standards and best practices for data development
- Design scalable data lake, data warehouse, and data lakehouse architectures
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization of data systems
- Implement data security measures and access control frameworks
- Collaborate with Data Governance teams to implement data quality standards
- Define and enforce data modeling standards and naming conventions
- Partner with business analysts and stakeholders to understand data requirements
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline preferred
- 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or database administration
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing enterprise data solutions
- Proven experience with large-scale data warehouse and data lake implementations
- Strong experience with cloud data services (AWS Redshift, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery, Snowflake, Databricks)
- Proficiency with relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB)
- Expertise in dimensional modeling, Data Vault, 3NF, and conceptual modeling
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools (Informatica, Talend, SSIS, dbt) and data orchestration (Airflow, Prefect)
- Knowledge of Hadoop ecosystem, Spark, Kafka, and distributed computing
- Proficiency in SQL; familiarity with Python, Scala, or Java
- Experience with data catalogs, metadata management, and data quality tools
