About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Underwriting and reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of subject matter, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover, rating guidelines and claims experience
  • Production and distribution of policy documentation
  • Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written
  • Monitor risks written that are due for renewal
  • Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters
  • Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation
  • Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations
  • Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording
  • Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required
  • Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships
  • Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required
  • Work collaboratively to support Senior Development Underwriter

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience working with a marine underwriting background, with an in depth knowledge of marine cargo clauses
  • Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
  • Able to communicate with different levels and is adaptable
  • Works as part of a team and able to work in a pressured environment
  • 5 GCSE passes (minimum Grade C or new grade 5), including Maths and English
  • 3 A Levels A-C or equivalent
  • ACII or equivalent
