Underwriter – Marine Cargo & Freight Liability

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Underwriting and reviewing new and renewal risks, taking into account type of risk, nature of subject matter, limits, voyages, stock locations, turnover, rating guidelines and claims experience
- Production and distribution of policy documentation
- Input and maintain accurate records within the Underwriting and Accounts systems and capture relevant data to allow for the successful monitoring and analysis of risks written
- Monitor risks written that are due for renewal
- Prepare reports and statistical information as required by the Underwriters
- Liaise with brokers and policy holders to obtain information to provide a quote and produce insurance documentation
- Chase for outstanding premium/adjustments/declarations
- Raise invoices/credits as required in relation to the policy wording
- Liaise with other departments in Lonham and Chaucer as required
- Liaise with brokers and clients to develop good working relationships
- Attend training sessions and other meetings, as and when required
- Work collaboratively to support Senior Development Underwriter
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience working with a marine underwriting background, with an in depth knowledge of marine cargo clauses
- Organised and able to work to tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities
- Able to communicate with different levels and is adaptable
- Works as part of a team and able to work in a pressured environment
- 5 GCSE passes (minimum Grade C or new grade 5), including Maths and English
- 3 A Levels A-C or equivalent
- ACII or equivalent
