About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Teach undergraduate courses within the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) curriculum in an online, asynchronous learning environment
  • Facilitate student learning using evidence-informed teaching practices consistent with the CSWE Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
  • Foster an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes student success
  • Connect students experiencing academic or personal challenges with appropriate college support services, including advising, tutoring, accessibility services, and counseling
  • Maintain an active online presence in assigned courses a minimum of four days each week
  • Monitor course discussions, provide timely and substantive feedback on assignments, and respond to student inquiries within established college timelines
  • Attend faculty meetings, either virtually or in person as appropriate, including the annual faculty meeting when requested
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities
  • Demonstrate cultural humility and the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds
  • Utilize Blackboard and other required instructional technologies effectively

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master of Social Work (MSW) from a CSWE-accredited program or a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from a CSWE-accredited program
  • Minimum of two (2) years of post-degree professional social work practice experience
  • Previous higher education teaching experience
  • Previous experience teaching in an online asynchronous learning environment, including the use of a learning management system such as Blackboard, Canvas, or a comparable platform
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generalist social work practice, the NASW Code of Ethics, and the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS)
  • Demonstrated proficiency using instructional technology, learning management systems, and common computer applications
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to foster an engaging, inclusive, and student-centered online learning environment
