About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supports LAN/WAN service availability through troubleshooting and problem resolution in production
- Provides daily operational and sustainment support for DHA LAN/WLAN/WAN networks
- Coordinates with Network Specialists on hardware and software upgrades
- Implements approved changes
- Supports network security barrier systems
- Uses diagnostics to isolate protocol, media, latency, and bottleneck issues
- Performs device reconfiguration or replacement as directed
Requirements
What you’ll need- DoD 8570.01 / 8570.01-M compliance at IAM Level II or equivalent
- Security+ and CCNA or equivalent network architecture certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science plus three years of related experience; or certified technical/vocational school plus five years of related experience
- Proficiency in TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.3, 802.11, 802.3u, 802.3z, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet
- Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards
- Experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, local WAN, and long-haul WAN connectivity
- High proficiency in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds
- Ability to work under direction from Regional Senior Network Engineers and Referral Network Engineers on firewall, VPN, and IDS configuration
- ADP sensitivity determination required
