About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Must be a field-capable network specialist who can perform daily sustainment, troubleshooting, hardware/software upgrade support, approved network changes, onsite/touch labor, and ticket discipline
The Network Specialist provides troubleshooting and problem resolution in a production environment
Daily sustainment support for DHA LAN/WLAN/WAN networks
Hardware/software upgrade coordination
Approved network change implementation
SolarWinds/ARMIS/Ansible-supported diagnostics
LAN/WAN security barrier support
Bottleneck and latency analysis
Device reconfiguration or replacement

Requirements

What you’ll need

DoD 8570.01 / 8570.01-M compliance at IAM Level II or equivalent
Security+ and CCNA or equivalent network architecture certification
Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as computer science plus at least two years of related experience; or certified technical/vocational school plus at least three years of related experience
Proficiency in TCP/IP, HTTP, HTTPS, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, RSTP, VRRP, BIND, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, 802.3, 802.11, 802.3u, 802.3z, Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, and DoD/DHA communications media
Experience with OTDR, cable testers, network sniffers, and EIA/TIA cable standards
Experience in routed, switched, and shared LAN environments using Microsoft OS, Windows Active Directory, UNIX, OpenVMS, routers, switches, terminal servers, local WAN, and long-haul WAN connectivity
Proficiency in Windows networks, Cisco Systems, and Orion SolarWinds
Ability to take direction from Referral Network Engineers and Network Engineer Associates on firewall, VPN, and IDS configuration
ADP sensitivity determination required
