About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Contribute to addressing the main issues affecting chestnut orchards: fruit rots, fruit worms, chestnut ink disease, and adaptation to climate change
- Contribute to the design and implementation of experimental protocols
- Monitor and collect data from various trials, and analyze the results
- Help disseminate and promote findings and knowledge to producers and sector partners
- Provide planting and orchard-management advisory services to producers as part of a support program for diversified orchards
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree in agronomy or equivalent qualification; equivalent professional experience will also be considered
- Interest in agricultural experimentation and innovation
- Knowledge of arboriculture/tree-fruit production
- Strong analytical and synthesis skills, with good written communication
- Organized, methodical and able to work autonomously
- Enjoys fieldwork and comfortable interacting with farmers and technical partners
- Ability to work in a team and to manage collaborative projects
- Prior experience in arboriculture or agronomic experimentation is a strong asset
