About the role

  • Monitor system health and performance
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues across hardware, software, and network layers
  • Maintain and manage storage systems
  • Manage system backup and recovery
  • Coordinate with external hardware, network, and infrastructure teams
  • Provide after-hours on-call and call-in support as needed
  • Ensure compliance with system security requirements
  • Participate in technical and engineering discussions
  • Create and maintain system-level scripts and automation tools
  • Apply system patches and perform upgrades
  • Administer and manage user accounts
  • Maintain accurate hardware and asset inventory records

Requirements

  • Six (6) years of professional experience in UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems
  • Experience in system backup and recovery
  • Basic software management
  • Security management and library management
  • Installation and configuration of hardware
  • Experience with operational systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software
  • Operating computer systems in different operating environments
  • Sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network troubleshooting and resource allocation
  • Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP
  • Experience with major network security tools such as firewalls
  • Knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods, and latest detection methods
  • Demonstrable experience in writing business/project plans, technical documents, presentations and proposals
  • High degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets
  • Candidate will work on-site in Dahlgren, VA
  • DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret
  • DoD 8570 IAT III required: one of CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP or CISSP Associate, GCED, GCIH
