About the role
- Monitor system health and performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues across hardware, software, and network layers
- Maintain and manage storage systems
- Manage system backup and recovery
- Coordinate with external hardware, network, and infrastructure teams
- Provide after-hours on-call and call-in support as needed
- Ensure compliance with system security requirements
- Participate in technical and engineering discussions
- Create and maintain system-level scripts and automation tools
- Apply system patches and perform upgrades
- Administer and manage user accounts
- Maintain accurate hardware and asset inventory records
Requirements
- Six (6) years of professional experience in UNIX and/or Linux system administration of networks and software systems
- Experience in system backup and recovery
- Basic software management
- Security management and library management
- Installation and configuration of hardware
- Experience with operational systems and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software
- Operating computer systems in different operating environments
- Sizing, performance, tuning, hardware/software/network troubleshooting and resource allocation
- Experience with network protocols including TCP/IP
- Experience with major network security tools such as firewalls
- Knowledge of computing and networking vulnerabilities, attack methods, and latest detection methods
- Demonstrable experience in writing business/project plans, technical documents, presentations and proposals
- High degree of skills with the MS Office toolsets
- Candidate will work on-site in Dahlgren, VA
- DoD Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret
- DoD 8570 IAT III required: one of CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP or CISSP Associate, GCED, GCIH
