Student – Chemical or Environmental Engineering
Cenovus EnergyStudent position assisting in Chemical/Environmental Engineering projects at Cenovus in Lima or Toledo, OH. Collaborating with process engineers on designs, environmental projects, and ensuring operational compliance.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist process engineers with designs of less complex equipment such as piping, pumps, heat exchangers, tanks, etc.
- Provide operating data for planning, operations improvement, economic evaluations, etc.
- Assist process engineers with troubleshooting to determine causes and solutions to operating problems.
- Perform air and water emissions modeling and calculations.
- Develop emissions projections to support potential changes in refinery production levels.
- Assist in data collection using DCS System historian.
- Communicate effectively with process and operation groups to gather and relay compliance statuses.
- Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and safety teams on environmental best practices.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. full-time for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation upon application (e.g., work visa).
- Available to begin work in September 2026.
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Solid analytical and Microsoft Suite skills, specifically Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal, judgement, and decision-making skills.
- Must be enrolled in a Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related Engineering degree at an accredited post-secondary institution at the time of intended work term and returning to full-time studies after the work term OR registered in an accredited post-secondary co-op or internship program for the duration of the work term.
- Candidates currently enrolled in either a Masters or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered. New graduates are not eligible for student opportunities.
