About the role

  • Develop architectural proposals and guide the vision for diverse engine systems, ensuring they meet desired functionality and performance standards
  • Proposing tools or technologies that could enhance the ability to deliver great engine systems support
  • Owning and driving engine topics and subsequent decision-making
  • Proposing and implementing solutions to the challenges of performance and scale of a large open-world game
  • Mentoring team members on how to get the most out of Unreal Technology
  • Motivating and energizing the team members
  • Cultivating the team culture in line with the company’s values and goals
  • Cascading and escalating information
  • Interviewing and hiring members of your team
  • Creating a game that delivers memorable experiences to players
  • Working across all disciplines to ensure that the engine technologies are meeting the needs of all stakeholders

Requirements

  • 7 years experience as a programmer within the games industry and with at least 1 year of experience as a lead
  • Deep proficiency in C++ coding, evidenced by a track record in commercial, open-source, or private projects
  • Thorough understanding of Unreal Engine
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in one or more engine related focus areas, including but not limited to: rendering, tools, physics, etc
  • Experience in working on various platforms
  • System architecture skills
  • Ability to debug and optimize code
  • Experience with multithreaded programming
  • Can think and work creatively while taking the initiative to solve problems
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivated, strong work ethic, and able to work independently
  • Drive towards professional growth
  • Nice to Have: Experience with RPG and/or open world games will be very welcome
