About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparation of audit schedules, financial statements, and notes
- Keep the engagement partner informed about engagement progress, issues, team status, and needs
- Address complex accounting issues and perform accounting research
- Prepare monthly financial statements and analyze changes in financial position and budget variances
- Review balance-sheet and general-ledger reconciliations and month-end closing entries
- Maintain understanding of accounting operations for assigned clients
- Use clients' accounting software packages
- Recommend and enforce client internal controls, policies, and procedures
- Lead engagement teams preparing for client audits and serve as main contact with external auditors
- Manage preparation of client Form 990 and tax forms and year-end Form 1099s
- Recommend, design, and implement policy controls and procedures
- Perform additional duties including budget preparation, grant reporting, policy and procedure drafting, client payables review and payment, client billing, and engagement-letter drafting
- Train, coach, and mentor staff accountants
- Review and supervise Senior and Staff Accountants' monthly work, including journal entries and reconciliations
- Assist with staff growth, development, and training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in relevant field
- 3 years of relevant work experience
- Achieve professional certifications relative to area of expertise and preserve required licenses
- Analytical skills
- Proficient use of applicable technology
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of the organization, internally and externally
- Ability to travel based on client and business needs
