About the role
- Provides administrative, operational, and clerical support to department staff.
- Manages online approval systems for expenses, reimbursements, and travel.
- Coordinates with department leadership and Cato’s legal team to manage work contracts.
- Coordinates and stages meetings and programming events, including scheduling with both internal and external parties, reserving space, and coordinating/obtaining catering if needed.
- Updates standard operating procedures, data records, and file structures.
- Coordinates with the team to facilitate the digital and physical procurement and distribution of Educational Initiatives materials, both internally and externally (i.e., books, mailers, merchandise, etc.).
- Supports department colleagues and performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- At least one year of professional work experience, ideally in an executive or administrative support-related role.
- An associate degree in any related field.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
- Familiarity with Salesforce preferred.
- An understanding of libertarian political philosophy and economic theory; passionate about the mission of the Cato Institute.
