About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and apply analytics models to diagnose store performance drivers, including traffic, conversion, UPT, AUR, labor utilization, shrink, and margin profitability
  • Identify underperforming stores, quantify root causes, and recommend targeted interventions such as labor scheduling, product placement, assortment, training, and process redesign
  • Design and apply rigorous test-and-learn standards to evaluate operational and merchandising initiatives
  • Create models to detect operational patterns, identify causal factors, and predict outcomes from leading indicators
  • Develop predictive and decision-support models for scheduling, staffing coverage, fulfillment flows, and allocation decisions
  • Transform POS, labor, tasking, shrink-event, and foot-traffic data into intelligence supporting experimentation and decision-making
  • Continuously refine models and reporting for evolving store strategies, customer behaviors, and brand needs
  • Present insights and performance diagnostics to store leadership
  • Partner with Store Operations, Finance, Merchandising, and Field Leadership to align analytics with business priorities
  • Guide cross-functional initiatives improving sales, labor productivity, customer satisfaction, and store profitability

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 6–10+ years of advanced analytics/data science experience; retail or operationally intensive consumer environments preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field
  • Master’s degree is a plus
  • Demonstrated success delivering forecasting, optimization, and segmentation solutions using ML models and AI tools
  • Ability to drive measurable operational or financial outcomes
  • Strong analytical judgment in noisy data environments
  • Ability to identify and validate relevant data, distinguish causal from predictive questions, make valid comparisons, and surface bias and assumptions
  • Ability to translate model outputs into sound business conclusions
  • Financial and operational acumen, including interpreting P&Ls and operational KPIs
  • Influential written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to guide decision-making without direct authority
  • Ability to promote intellectual honesty, constructive skepticism, shared ownership, continuous improvement, and practical rigor
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Ability to build and validate reproducible workflows, including AI-assisted code
