About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Context Mapping: Systematically analyze internal and external issues that may affect the environmental performance of wind farms and other operations.
  • Stakeholder Management: Identify and monitor the needs of regulatory agencies, local communities and investors, ensuring expectations are translated into operational requirements.
  • Risk and Opportunity Matrix: Prepare and update the EMS risk and opportunity matrix, proposing action plans to mitigate threats and leverage opportunities for environmental improvement.
  • Aspects and Impacts: Coordinate the identification and significance assessment of environmental aspects (e.g., oil consumption, noise, impacts on wildlife), ensuring application of a life-cycle perspective.
  • Legal Compliance: Monitor compliance with legal requirements (federal, state and municipal) and conditions of environmental licenses, ensuring full adherence to deadlines and obligations.
  • Operational Controls: Establish and oversee procedures for controlling emissions, solid waste management, effluents and biodiversity conservation in the company’s areas of influence.
  • Supplier Management: Evaluate the environmental performance of service providers and suppliers, ensuring their activities align with Casa dos Ventos’ Environmental Policy.
  • Emergency Response: Develop, review and coordinate drills of Emergency Response Plans (ERP) for environmental incidents.
  • Performance Indicators Management: Collect and analyze environmental performance data, producing management reports on natural resource consumption, waste generation and GHG emissions.
  • Internal Audits: Plan and perform internal EMS audits (following ISO 19011 guidelines), and support external certification and surveillance audits.
  • Nonconformity Handling: Manage the lifecycle of nonconformities, from root-cause investigation to verification of the effectiveness of corrective actions implemented.
  • Management Support: Prepare the technical report for Management Review, evidencing EMS status and any needs for resources or strategic changes.
  • Training: Develop and deliver environmental training programs and weekly environmental briefings for employees and contractors.
  • Environmental Communication: Act as the technical focal point for internal and external communication on environmental topics, ensuring integrity of the system’s documented information.
  • Certification Assurance: Maintain the EMS in an auditable and compliant state to ensure ongoing ISO 14001 certification.
  • Legal Safeguarding: Mitigate risks of environmental infractions that could result in fines or shutdowns of wind farms.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Based in Fortaleza, CE, Brazil
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor certification: Certification by an accredited body (e.g., IRCA), demonstrating high technical proficiency and the ability to lead complex audits.
  • Integration of Management Systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 45001): Technical knowledge of Quality and Health & Safety standards to work in an integrated management system (IMS), optimizing processes and combined audits.
  • GHG Management: Knowledge of ISO 14064 or the GHG Protocol for preparing emissions inventories.
  • Compliance Management Software: Experience with legal-requirements monitoring tools (e.g., Ambipar/VG, Calcg, Ius Natura).
  • Renewable Energy: Specific knowledge of the environmental impacts of wind and solar complexes (avian impacts, vegetation clearance, noise).
  • Root Cause Analysis: Proficiency with analysis tools such as Ishikawa (Fishbone), 5 Whys and Problem Analysis and Solving Method (MASP).
  • Environmental Education: Methodologies for developing training and awareness programs for large groups (employees and communities).
  • Advantage: Postgraduate degree in progress or completed
