About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide financial oversight, leadership, and support to the region, market, and corporate organization
- Deliver timely, accurate, comprehensive, and transparent financial reporting
- Support growth and business development opportunities in existing and additional markets
- Provide strategic support to regional and market leaders in establishing and reaching targets
- Prepare and present Monthly/Quarterly Business Review documents
- Support monthly close through journal entries, accruals, and supporting analysis
- Drive the QAI plan and coordinate quality improvement initiatives
- Coordinate rate advocacy, revenue maximization, risk adjustment, quality initiatives, and product pricing efforts
- Prepare cost reports and regulatory filings and interact with regulatory agencies
- Support annual budgeting, monthly/quarterly forecasting, and strategic planning
- Provide long-term financial projections and insight into business-driver risk sensitivity
- Coordinate independent financial accounting audits and regulatory financial audits
- Perform ad hoc and trend analysis to identify drivers and QAI opportunities
- Model market-specific contracting and enhancement initiatives and lead trend discussions
- Manage departmental staff and expense budget and make staffing decisions
- Develop, implement, and modify processes for efficiency and effectiveness
- Assess internal controls and implement changes to ensure compliance
- Perform other duties as requested
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must live in New York
- Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent years of relevant work experience is required
- Master of Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent graduate degree is preferred
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in accounting/finance
- Previous senior-level management experience is required
- Managed care or healthcare experience is preferred
- Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to provide financial and business insight to regional, market, and executive leadership
- Ability to lead the region/market finance function and interact with external partners, including regulators, actuaries, providers, and peer MCOs
- Ability to multitask and support several market leaders/business areas simultaneously
- Ability to lead and direct others, including staff development, motivation, and rewards
- Knowledge of internal control frameworks and ability to perform and document owned internal controls
- Decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Critical listening and thinking skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Conflict resolution skills
- Detail-oriented
- CPA or other equivalent certification is preferred
- General office environment; may sit or stand for extended periods
- May be required to travel occasionally
