About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the operation of Capital Power’s cyber security infrastructure
  • Participate in daily operational tasks (including monitoring health, incident management, change management, patching, security reviews, and incident investigations)
  • Provide support services for IS Cyber Security and collaborate closely with internal teams and managed service providers
  • Ensure team provides highly adaptable and customer-focused support services for all Capital Power business units
  • Participate in appropriate security reviews for key systems and vendors
  • Provide input into decisions within the cyber security team
  • Participate in the investigation and resolution of cyber security events
  • Apply appropriate troubleshooting/investigative skills and ensure best-practice steps are followed in developing, testing, and implementing solutions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Diploma/Degree in Computing Science, Computer Engineering, or Management Information Systems
  • Enrollment in or recent completion of the NAIT Cybersecurity Post Diploma Certificate Program will be an asset
  • Experience with Operating Systems, TCP/IP networks and basic Cybersecurity concepts
  • Hands-on troubleshooting of application and network issues using logs and common tools
  • Experience working in a corporate environment as a member of a team would be an asset but not a requirement
  • Common networking protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS and TLS
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Windows Domains
  • Experience with scripting is considered an asset
  • Understanding of cloud services and data governance as it relates to cyber security
  • Self-motivated, organized, customer focused, detail-oriented, and effective communicator
  • Problem solving, results driven and action-oriented when working on assigned tasks
