About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist in determining rates and analyze, develop, and validate statistical data
  • Support senior staff and management with rate filings
  • Build knowledge of how rate filings are developed and submitted
  • Support completion of the company forecast
  • Learn the forecast process and interpret its results
  • Support the monthly reserve valuation process
  • Learn key elements and functions of the reserve process
  • Modify and impact analytics and processes
  • Build knowledge of data sources and gather data for core actuarial functions
  • Develop understanding of management reports and their intended functions
  • Participate in the Actuarial Student Program and take exams toward ASA and/or FSA credentials

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics
  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Currently pursuing the ASA designation in the Society of Actuaries
  • Completion of 1–3 actuarial exams, with up to three exams noted
  • Analytical thinking skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Ability to handle moderately complex issues or problems
  • Fundamental knowledge of actuarial principles, concepts, practices, and processes
  • Statistical knowledge
  • Detail-oriented
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel, and Access
  • Ability to work over 40 hours per week
  • Frequently able to sit, use hands and fingers, talk, hear, and see
  • Occasionally able to lift or move up to 5 pounds
