About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Direct the Financial Reporting staff and manage investment accounting, reporting, and daily cash management activities
  • Coordinate and manage internal and external financial reports prepared under GAAP, SAP, HHS, and BCBSA requirements
  • Oversee month-end close, consolidation, account analysis, reconciliation, and financial reporting processes
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, operational procedures, and data-flow documentation
  • Manage investment accounting software and custodian vendor relationships, including new custody accounts
  • Implement and upgrade general ledger and financial reporting systems
  • Oversee integration of financial reporting for new acquisitions and provide guidance to independent subsidiaries
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate employees; conduct reviews and address performance issues
  • Manage relationships and requests from internal auditors, external auditors, and governmental representatives
  • Participate in financial reporting and accounting projects and perform related duties as directed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 10 years of experience in financial reporting or a comprehensive accounting environment and/or 5 years of management experience in a financial reporting environment
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • CPA designation preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Applications, including Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Oracle business suites preferred or other accounting software
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and statutory accounting principles
  • Knowledge of investment-related accounting and reporting requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Results-oriented leadership and ability to develop goals and plans
  • Proven time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work under pressure in an ambiguous environment
  • Analytical skills, attention to detail, deadline orientation, and high proficiency in mathematics
  • Ability to work over 40 hours per week
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 5 pounds
