About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Administer and maintain the organization's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points
Monitor network performance to ensure optimal uptime, security, and efficiency, troubleshooting and resolving network issues as they arise
Configure, manage, and support local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and virtual private networks (VPNs)
Implement and maintain network security protocols and firewalls to protect against internal and external threats
Perform routine network backups and disaster recovery procedures
Analyze network traffic and make recommendations for improvements to enhance system performance and security
Collaborate with IT staff to plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and migrations
Assist with the design and implementation of network solutions to support the organization's growth and technical needs
Manage network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and asset inventories
Troubleshoot and resolve network-related issues in a timely manner, coordinating with other departments and vendors when necessary
Provide support and guidance to junior network staff and assist in their professional development
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, recommending improvements to existing network infrastructure
Collaborate with various other Canon groups of companies as necessary

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of training and experience)
5+ years of system and network administration experience in a heterogeneous infrastructure
Strong knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), routing, and switching
Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other major networking equipment
Familiarity with firewalls, VPNs, and network security principles
Experience with network monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar)
Understanding of network topologies, VLANs, and network segmentation
Proficiency with network configuration and management of both on-premise and cloud-based network infrastructure
Knowledge of network automation tools and scripting languages is a plus (e.g., Python, PowerShell)
Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), or similar
Experience using network analysis tools (e.g., Wireshark, NetFlow)
Familiarity with cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, etc.)
Knowledge of VoIP, SD-WAN, and other advanced network technologies
