About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform intermediate and advanced laboratory tests and analyses on crude oil, refined petroleum, petrochemical products, and quality control samples
  • Review and interpret data, prepare detailed reports, and communicate results to cross-functional teams
  • Analyze and interpret test results to ensure they meet company and regulatory standards
  • Prepare samples and reagents for testing and ensure they are properly labeled, stored, and tracked
  • Enter test data into the company’s internal software system and ensure all information is accurately recorded and updated
  • Assist in the calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and protocols, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals and materials
  • Assist in preparing for internal or external audits and inspections
  • Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of laboratory areas, ensuring a safe, clean, and organized environment
  • Be available during non-working hours, weekends, and holidays as dictated by the Laboratory Manager and/or Operations Department

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience or a related role within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum products, chemical analysis, and laboratory testing procedures
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing standards such as ASTM, API, and ISO
  • Must have good vision to read instruments and interpret test results accurately
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn new software systems and applications specific to the company's internal processes
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in testing and documentation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
