Chief Engineer
CALLAN MARINE LTDChief Engineer responsible for management and oversight of equipment operations and maintenance. Position based in Galveston, TX with focus on safety and operational efficiency.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for the management and oversight of the equipment owned and/or rented by the company
- Manage the repair and maintenance program, equipment inventory and location, as well as the critical spares inventory
- Report to the Vessel Manager on projects and project management regarding critical decisions
- Maintain inventory of all pieces of equipment, and their locations, at all times
- Oversee the repair and maintenance program for all equipment
- Maintain all equipment in good operating condition and ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner
- Track daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports and inspections
- Maintain record of repair
- Maintain inventory of spare parts
- Requisition spare parts and supplies
- Track and requisition fuel, lube, and water
- Monitor all mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components on the dredge and support equipment
- Initiate corrective and preventative actions to ensure goals are met
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic skills
- Strong trouble shooting, diagnostics, and preventative maintenance skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong mentoring skills
- Ability to comply with safety rules and regulations
- Ability to work as directed and get your work done timely and correctly
- Ability to work away from home at remote project locations for extended durations
- Must be reliable and motivated
- Ability to obtain TWIC
- Knowledge of operation of various types of marine equipment, tools, and devices
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.
