About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the development of strategic IT policy and governance frameworks that align the Army IT Strategy with National Strategy Documents and DoD IT Portfolio Management (PfM) compliance criteria and guidance.
  • Plan, monitor, and develop metrics to assess the effectiveness of Army IT strategic governance systems and the IT strategic decision-making model.
  • Present recommendations on strategic policies, processes, and practices for Army Senior Leader decisions.
  • Utilize the Army Enterprise Reference Architecture to determine strategic options for Mission Areas, cross-mission area integration, Multi-Domain Operations, Joint/Special Operations Forces (SOF), and Coalition requirements.
  • Analyze and articulate the requirements for the governance of enterprise IT.
  • Conduct performance assessments of the Army IT portfolio to inform IT strategy development and portfolio planning.
  • Identify strategy performance gaps based on strategic performance metrics and present improvement recommendations.
  • Make recommendations for resolving systemic issues identified during assessment and analysis activities.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • An active Secret clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience; OR a Master’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience; OR equivalent education and military experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of dedicated strategic planning experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of operating in an HQDA Staff environment, Joint Staff, and/or a 3-Star command (or equivalent) environment.
  • Former Army Strategist (FA59), School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS) graduate, Joint Interagency Multinational Planners Course (JIMPC) qualified, or similar advanced strategic planner training desired.
  • 5+ years of specialized, proven success in strategy, coupled with Staff Action Officer experience.
  • Prior experience directly supporting the Army CIO or DCS, G-6, with strong knowledge of Army governance forums and processes.
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Architecture, DoDAF, Army data platforms, and data management best practices.
