Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, data models, and BI solutions within the VA’s Data Estate environment using Microsoft Power BI
Develop and optimize ETL processes to support reporting, analytics, and system integrations
Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable data solutions
Implement data quality checks, error handling, and performance tuning to ensure system efficiency and data integrity
Support the migration and transformation of legacy datasets into the modern VA Data Estate environment
Develop and maintain technical documentation, including data dictionaries, data flow diagrams, and solution design documents
Provide production support and troubleshooting for data-related issues and user queries

Requirements

(BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of related work experience
Experience in data engineering, BI development, or database development
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Synapse, or Azure Data Factory
Proven ability to design and implement ETL processes, data models, and data pipelines
Experience with Power BI or similar BI tools for report and dashboard development
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction, transformation, and validation
Understanding of data governance, metadata management, and data quality best practices
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively in a large, matrixed federal program environment
