About the role

  • Provide drafting and CAD design support for engineering and sustainment activities at NSWC Dahlgren.
  • Develop and maintain technical drawings and models that support fabrication, integration, testing, and lifecycle sustainment of DoD systems.
  • Work closely with government and contractor engineers to translate design intent, redlines, and legacy documentation into accurate, controlled technical data.
  • Create, modify, and maintain 2D and 3D technical drawings using CAD tools.
  • Develop detailed drawings, layouts, assemblies, and schematics in support of hardware systems.
  • Convert legacy drawings and redlines into current digital formats.
  • Support configuration control by incorporating drawing changes and revisions.
  • Ensure drawings comply with applicable drafting standards and program requirements.
  • Maintain organized drawing packages and associated technical documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineers to clarify design intent and resolve discrepancies.
  • Support engineering change activities and documentation updates.
  • Assist with preparation of drawing packages for fabrication, installation, or sustainment.

Requirements

  • DOW Secret Clearance to Begin Work
  • Associate’s degree, technical certificate, or equivalent professional experience in Drafting, CAD Design, or a related technical field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional drafting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD for 2D technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks for 3D modeling and assemblies.
  • Experience producing detailed mechanical and/or electrical drawings.
  • Experience working from engineering sketches, redlines, and verbal direction.
  • Familiarity with drawing revision processes and configuration control.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, technicians, and program staff.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance.
