About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Install, configure, patch and deploy RHEL servers and systems, ensuring they meet organizational requirements.
Manage user accounts, permissions, ensuring proper user access controls.
Manage network infrastructure, hardware capabilities, testing protocols, and software development.
Implement and maintain robust security measures, including firewalls, access controls, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery procedures to protect critical data and systems.
Install, update, and manage software packages, ensuring system stability and security.
Create and maintain technical documentation, including operating instructions, user guides, and installation instructions.
Provide feedback, document workflow deficiencies, and identify process improvements.
Maintain scripts for simple repetitive system administrative tasks.
Perform system installations, operating system patching, and maintenance, ensuring compliance with VA security guidelines.
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve system issues, providing timely and effective solutions.
Implement automation using tools like Ansible to streamline repetitive tasks and improve efficiency.

Requirements

What you’ll need

At least 7 to 10 years of experience in system administration
Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure, experience with RHEL systems
Strong knowledge of Linux Scripting and Analytical skills
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner
Experience with major incident response and crisis management
Demonstrated ability to work independently or under general direction
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks
Familiarity with VA policies and procedures is a plus
Customer-focused mindset.
