About the role

  • Mix of site and office-based work with regular site visits and office design tasks.
  • Take ownership of projects and shape designs from concept to delivery.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers; lead and inspire a collaborative team.
  • Deliver technically excellent designs across earthworks, foundations, slope stability, pavements, and retaining structures.
  • Oversee ground investigations from site logging to reporting, aligned with BS5930 and Eurocode 7.
  • Use geotechnical software (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5 or similar) to perform analyses and produce solutions.
  • Build strong client relationships and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to high quality.
  • Champion continuous improvement and introduce best practice and innovative, sustainable solutions.

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology with geotechnical design experience; Master’s advantageous.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering.
  • Proven record of leading smaller projects and contributing to complex schemes.
  • Strong geotechnical design and analysis skills (Slope W, Plaxis, Geo5 or similar).
  • Knowledge of BS5930 and Eurocode 7 for ground investigations and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and people skills; collaborative, supportive approach.
