About the role

  • Lead discussions, architect solutions, and drive implementation of complex distributed systems
  • Design and develop highly scalable, reliable, and performant distributed systems
  • Consult with management on long-term goals and select appropriate technologies
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to multiple engineering teams
  • Contribute hands-on to implementation of core system components and set code quality standards
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges; act as key troubleshooter
  • Collaborate with product management, UX, QA, and other engineering teams for product delivery
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and prototype innovative solutions
  • Ensure systems meet performance, scalability, and security requirements

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in software development
  • At least 3+ years in a role focusing on distributed systems
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with distributed systems concepts (microservices, distributed databases, messaging queues, consensus algorithms, fault tolerance, consistency models)
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms (VMware vSphere, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Proficiency in Go (Golang); experience with Java, Python, or C++
  • Strong knowledge of Linux and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven ability to lead and mentor engineering teams
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Preferred: Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration; open-source distributed systems frameworks; contributions to open-source projects or technical publications; experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices
