About the role

  • Analyze business requirements and prepare implementation concepts
  • Develop, maintain and enhance COBOL applications on IBM z/OS (batch & interactive)
  • Database design and access (DB2, VSAM, sequential data sets)
  • Execute tests (system, integration, regression) and perform quality assurance (code reviews, refactoring, pair programming)
  • Create and maintain documentation (user, operations and maintenance manuals)
  • Support rollouts, operation and maintenance of test and production systems
  • Knowledge transfer and coaching of internal staff
  • Participate in projects in a tax-related context

Requirements

  • Completed degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a comparable qualification (e.g., IT specialist in application development)
  • Several years of experience in COBOL development on IBM z/OS
  • Strong knowledge of COBOL (including CICS, BMS screens, XML, REST/JSON)
  • Familiarity with JCL, TSO/ISPF and Rational Developer for z/OS
  • Database development (DB2, SQL) as well as batch and online programming
  • Experience in software design, requirements analysis and documentation
  • Basic knowledge of the V-Model XT and common software development methodologies
  • Ideally, project experience in regulated/public sector environments or related industries such as banking or insurance
  • Fluent German (at least C1) and basic English (at least A2), both written and spoken
  • Analytical thinking, team orientation and the ability to work independently
